Dementia Care
The top floor at Kentmere Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing is dedicated to providing expanded services and care for residents with Alzheimer’s or related dementias in a warm, home-like and secure environment that includes a rooftop sunroom, its own dining room and a community center featuring a large fish tank.
Kentmere is a leader in staff training in Montessori for Dementia and Aging, an innovative approach to dementia care that supports older adults and people living with dementia by creating a prepared environment filled with cues and memory supports where individuals can care for themselves, others and their community.
We strive to develop an environment that treats individuals with respect and dignity and honors their choices so that they may live as independently as possible.
Our team – from our administrators to our housekeeping staff – is trained in Montessori for Dementia and Aging, which supports improving the quality of life for seniors with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia by promoting the principles of dignity, meaningful engagement and independence throughout life. Because these diseases affect not only our residents but their entire family, we offer a variety of supportive services to ease the transition to long-term care.
